72 Camps was founded by Kevin Leineweber, a nationally recognized and award winning science educator and motorcyclist. The mission of 72 CAMPS is to provide affordable motorcycle safety courses and science courses in a fun way while developing the foundation for a lifetime of safety and lifelong learning!

MOTORCYCLE SKILLS CAMP

72 Camps is hosting introduction to riding motorcycles camps. 72 Camps' goal is to provide the foundation for a lifetime of safe riding. The camps will cover a wide range of topics from a pre-ride inspection to a post-ride check, including: pre-ride motorcycle check, warm-up and stretching, protective/safety gear, operation of controls, riding posture, riding skills, riding management, riding responsibly, and post-ride equipment check. Although the camp is designed for ages 8-15, we are flexible. 8-15 is a pretty big age gap? The camp is conducted in a family type atmosphere and not a traditional classroom setting. All campers and staff are expected to act in a respectful way and will be held to that criteria. The campers will interact and support each other’s skill development. During a typical day at camp, campers will get both a mixture of on and off of the motorcycle experiences. There will be classroom type lessons covering topics such as how does a motorcycle work, what are the basic controls of a motorcycle, proper safety gear when riding, and proper nutrition. There will be on the motorcycle experiences with the focus being on safety and progression. Riding starts with starting the motorcycles, how to work the controls, and how to maintain control. We will practice these skills and repeat them. Only after a skill set is mastered will a camper move on to the next skill development. Although there will be some general day camp experiences to allow for social interaction and relationship development our focus is on riding motorcycles and developing that skill. The general schedule will be 9-noon camp/classroom/riding experiences, noon-1 lunch break [provided by each camper], 1-4 camp/classroom/riding experiences. Campers may be dropped off as early as 8:30 am and picked up as late as 5:00 pm. Each camper will be on the motorcycle approximately 3 hours each day. All riding is done under the direct supervision of an instructor and the camp will focus on safety first. No camper will be allowed to ride without permission and having an instructor check their protective gear. 72 Camps provides all motorcycles and safety equipment with the exception of a helmet and goggles (these can be rented from 72 CAMPS for $10 per day, but prior arrangements need to be made). The rider should wear long pants (motocross style or jeans without holes) and a long sleeve t-shirt or riding jersey, plus over the ankle boots. 72 Camps will provide elbow/knee pads, plus the motorcycles and gas.
